T-Mobile unveils the G2, pre-sales coming some time in Septermber

T-Mobile has finally unveiled the HTC made G2.  The T-Mobile G2 will feature a 3.7 inch capacitive display and will be powered by Qualcomm’s MSM7230 Snapdragon processor clocked at 800MHz.  The G2 will also sport 4GB of internal memory, 8GB microSD card (expandable to 32GB), 5MP camera with autofocus and LED flash, 720p HD video recording, Adobe Flash 10.1, and a 1300 mAh battery.  The T-Mobile G2 will weigh in at weigh 6 ounces and will measure 4.7 x 2.4 x 0.6 inches, slightly larger than the original G1.  Contract pricing for the G2 is yet to be revealed, but the footer on the G2’s spec page indicates that off-contract pricing will be set at $500.

The launch date for the G2 is still a mystery, but T-mobile is promising that pre-orders for the handset will begin later this month.  Is anyone ready to test out T-Mobile HSPA+ network to see what Android is truly capable of?

The T-Mobile G2′s Official Pictures Get Leaked

The G2, sequel to the late, lamented G1, has been leaking all over the place. This latest, caught by CellPhone Signal, has what appear to be the official pictures for T-Mobile’s site, and though they don’t really reveal anything new, they’re clear and show the handset off well. And would you care for some specs with those leaked pics, madame?
  • 3.7″ OLED display
  • 1GHz Snapdragon processor
  • 3G HSPA+
  • Android 2.2 … with Sense?
  • 5MP camera
Now, that Sense thing goes against what we heard of the firmware. It also goes against what we heard about the G2 being a “pure” Android experience with Google branding. I also see plain 2.2 running in those pics. I’m guessing the specs are mistaken.

Sale price of the T-Mobile G2 gets leaked

Some new information has come to light, revealing the price of the T-Mobile G2.  Leak screen shots show that the G2 will be selling for $199.99 for customers who choose to sing a new two year agreement with T-Mobile.  Those already on T-Mobile Even More Plus plans will be asked to hand over a cool $499.99 for the G2.  The price of the T-Mobile G2 is isn’t surprising at all since the majority of the higher end Android handsets have made their debut at the $199.99 mark.  We still don’t have any word on when T-Mobile plans to officially announce the G2, but the expected launch date of September 29th is only four weeks away from today.

A few new rendered images of the T-Mobile G2

Two new “official” renderings of the upcoming T-Mobile G2 have just hit the web.  There’s really nothing more to report besides the fact that Cell Phone Signal is claiming that the G2 will only be available in silver.  The fact that the G2 will only launch with one color option isn’t a shocker to any of us, but it is a little odd considering that all the other HTC phones on T-Mobile have had multiple color options.  Though the leaked ROM showed no signs of HTC Sense, we’re pretty sure that quite a few Android purists are happy to see the T-Mobile G2 renders confirm that the handset will be running a vanilla build of Android 2.2.
